Let’s get one thing straight — curly hair is fabulous. But there are still so many myths floating around about curly hair that need to be put to rest. At KGHD, we’re all about facts, fun, and fabulous hair — so we’re setting the record straight.
Myth 1: Curly Hair Isn’t Manageable
False! Curly hair can be incredibly manageable — it’s all about using the right products, tools, and care routines. With a bit of know-how (and maybe a little guidance from your fave KGHD stylist), your curls can be soft, defined, and easy to style. Curls are meant to be celebrated, not fought against.
Myth 2: Curly Hair Grows Slower
Nope — curly hair grows at the same rate as straight hair. It just looks like it grows slower because it coils and spirals, giving the illusion of less length. So don’t stress — your curls are doing their thing, and they’re growing just as they should.
Myth 3: Curly Hair Doesn’t Need to Be Washed Often
We hear this one a lot, but it’s a myth. Yes, curly hair can be drier by nature, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need washing. Shampooing 2–3 times a week helps remove product build-up, keeps your scalp healthy, and promotes hair growth. It’s all about using a nourishing shampoo and conditioner made for curls — we’ve got plenty of recommendations if you need them!
Myth 4: Heat Doesn’t Damage Curly Hair
All hair types are vulnerable to heat damage — curly hair included. Using heat without protection? Big no. If you're styling curls with heat (think diffusers, straighteners, or curling wands), always use a heat protectant. Thicker or coarser curls may need higher heat to achieve certain styles, but the key is to protect and not overdo it. Fine curls? Lower heat, same rule — always protect those strands!
Curly hair is bold, beautiful, and full of personality — just like you. 💖 Don’t let myths mess with your curl game. If you need help choosing the right products, figuring out your routine, or just want someone to show your curls some love, book in at KGHD. We’ve got you.
