Straight Hair Myths, Busted

Just because your hair’s straight doesn’t mean it’s simple.

Straight hair gets a bit of a reputation for being “easy” — but we’re here to bust a few myths. Whether your hair is naturally sleek or chemically straightened, these are the things we hear all the time that just aren’t true...

Myth 1: Straight hair is easier to manage. Sure, it might not knot up like curls do — but that doesn’t mean it’s all low-maintenance. Straight hair can get greasy fast, lose volume easily, and struggle to hold shape or style. That wash-and-go moment? Not always the vibe.

Myth 2: Straight hair doesn’t get frizzy. All hair types are prone to frizz, especially when humidity, heat damage, or dryness get involved. Fine or chemically straightened hair is even more likely to fluff up. Frizz isn't just a curl thing — it's a care thing.

Myth 3: You don’t need conditioner on straight hair. Nope. Every hair type needs moisture. Skipping conditioner might make straight hair feel “lighter” at first, but long term, you’ll see dryness, damage, and dullness. A lightweight conditioner = your best friend for smooth, healthy shine.

Final thoughts? Straight hair has its own rules — and its own routine. We love busting these kinds of myths in the salon and helping our clients find products and methods that actually work for their hair, not just what the internet says should.

Come see us. We’ll keep it real. Always 🩷
